‘How long have you been drawing for?’
Honestly; I have no idea. Always have, somehow. I already enjoyed it in kindergarten. And I still do. At work, everyone used to have the inside track that I was already retired in spirit, as I’ve now published over 10 books. It can be a bit difficult to keep track of everything, which is why I have recorded my career with all its ups and downs on this page.
Enjoy reading!
My career...
2009
When I was in 7th grade, a new student joined our class. He approached me directly because he liked writing stories and thought it would be cool if I made a manga out of them. Up to that point, I had only ever drawn pictures for fun and wasn't really interested in creating something "of my own". Accordingly, I approached the subject relatively half-heartedly and didn't work on it much.

PinkBat
As a teenager, I read manga practically every day - and then I finally got the urge to try my hand at it myself. I came across a few challenges online at the time where the aim was to draw my own OneShot (1-chapter) manga within within 4 weeks. I tried my hand at it without much thought and realized that I really enjoy drawing manga pages. The only thing I really struggled with was coming up with a plot. I used to draw PinkBat just for fun and it's not available.

MYTH - Volume 1
As soon as I finished school, I really wanted to use the remaining six months of free time to make my own manga. That's when I remembered the story that Tobias had written when I was at school - and Tobias liked the idea of revisiting "MYTH". So Tobias took care of most of the plot, story, dialog etc.. Meanwhile, I redesigned the characters that I originally designed when I was still at school. My main task, however, was to draw the first part of Tobias' written story as a manga and to realize it on 121 pages (5 chapters) and to finish it completely for printing. Originally it was supposed to stay that way, but Tobias wrote his story much more extensively than just for one volume. As I really enjoyed working on the manga, I started working on volume 2 straight away. worked on volume 2 immediately afterwards...

MYTH - Volume 2
I started work on volume 2 in February 2016 and by October 2016 I had drawn the 5 chapters it contains. I drew the first volume partly with liners. Now I wanted to switch completely to pen and ink. Because of this, but also because of the 3 color pages (which were only included in the first edition), the work was a bit more difficult.

MYTH - Volume 3
This volume is one of my favorites. Tobias' story took a turn into a darker area at this time. I really enjoyed the change from regular "shonen" manga to a light "horror" direction, it was a lot of fun to draw a more serious atmosphere. Since the story has slowly become a bit more extensive, I started printing a summary of the characters and the story so far at the beginning of the book from volume 3 onwards. the story so far. Parallel to the work on the manga, I also produced fully animated trailers for the manga series, which I uploaded to YouTube for publication.

MYTH - Volume 4
Because I wanted to improve for each volume, I thought of something very special for volume 4: Tobias was to start writing little side stories that I would include in the books in the form of extra chapters. So from now on, each volume will have 5 ½ chapters and at least 4 color pages in the first edition. In combination with the animated trailers, which also became more elaborate from year to year, I realized that I probably wouldn't be able to carry this load for much longer. probably wouldn't be able to carry this load for much longer and planned to finish the series the following year with volume 5.

MYTH - Volume 5
Originally, volume 5 was supposed to be the end of the series. However, the first arc (story section) of Tobias' story was not yet completely finished at this point in the story. completely finished. For this reason, I decided to give the series a more honorable ending instead of drawing a line in the middle of the story. I already had plans and ideas for projects and books that I wanted to realize after the manga series - but I had to postpone them for a year.

MYTH - Volume 6
Due to time constraints, but also partly for health reasons, I ended the MYTH manga series in December 2020. With over 10,000+ copies sold, the manga series will go down in history as the most successful German-language indie manga. The first section (The "Flashback Arc") of Tobias' story ended here. For the conclusion, I animated the most elaborate trailer, drew a complete extra chapter for volume 6 and produced a free (and strictly limited) collector's slipcase for the series. I'm very glad I continued MYTH through to volume 6 and finished it after the big, final battle. However, I was also happy to finally have time for other books and projects.

Artbooks
Over the years, I have collected so many color illustrations that I have always wanted to make a complete art book out of them. An art collection in which my favorite pictures are printed. I had also planned to learn watercolor after I finished the MYTH manga series. So for this book I taught myself a completely new medium, among other things, so that this book doesn't just contain old illustrations of mine. But now that so many pictures have come together, I have published two books: A large book with all the color illustrations and a small book with pencil drawings, sketches and unfinished drawings.

Tutorial book
I had now created a complete manga series and also published my color illustrations in book form. But people always asked: "Do you have a book on how to learn to draw?" So a tutorial book of my own was next on my list! A book that you could use as a beginner and at the same time as an advanced could use. The book is now even used in art lessons in schools, has been translated into several languages and became a "mirror bestseller" as soon as it was published. As I wanted this book to be easily available everywhere, I sold the rights to this book to a publisher - so it is available in every bookshop. so it is available in every bookstore (just not in my store).

Project "Phoenixheart"
While I was working on my previous book, I was planning a big project with a very well-known company. I started working on this project immediately and without a break as soon as I had finished the tutorial book. In total, I hardly worked on anything else for half a year and concentrated solely on this. However, extremely shortly before I was due to start, I was informed that the company had to cancel the project due to internal problems. A publication or announcement of details on my part or on the part of the company is neither planned nor in prospect.

Calendar
As you would expect, I was devastated that I now had no project to work on for 2023. The last six months of extremely hard work were practically for nothing. Mentally, I wasn't in the right frame of mind to tackle another big project straight away while I hadn't really finished the previous one. Instead, I made the decision to focus on the future and work on my illustrations. and work on my illustrations. In my opinion, my watercolor paintings have always lacked a "certain something"; a way to take them to the next level. to the next level. That's why I wanted to continue my education and started learning to paint with gouache. However, as these pictures became more and more and more elaborate, I decided to turn them into something where "quality over quantity" applies. A product where I concentrate on a few pictures pictures and perfect them as best I can: a calendar.

Tutorial book #2
My first tutorial book is now probably my best-known work. "Drawing like a Sir" is sometimes even used in schools for teaching purposes. Since the publication of the first book, I have been asked by publishers and many readers for a sequel. and I have decided to publish a final tutorial book. The book goes into great detail about the human body and is aimed less at beginners and more at people who have already mastered the basics. For this book, I even worked with 3D models to illustrate the body and anatomy even better. Because my books are now reaching such elaborate dimensions, this book is the first that I am publishing as a freelance artist. Up until this point, I was still working a regular job during the day.
